Like its predecessor, the game adopted the "concept art style", which features graphics inspired by both photorealistic imagery and comic-book-inspired visuals. With the unexpected success of the first game, Gearbox was able to secure a budget of $30–35 million to develop the sequel. Like its predecessor, the game features a procedurally generated loot system which is capable of generating numerous combinations of weapons and other gear.
REDDIT BORDERLANDS GAME OF THE YEAR OFFLINE
The game features the ability to explore the in-game world and complete both main missions and optional side quests, either in offline splitscreen, single-player or online cooperative gameplay. The story follows a new group of Vault Hunters who must ally with the Crimson Raiders, a resistance group made up of civilian survivors and guerrilla fighters, to defeat the tyrannical Handsome Jack before he can unlock the power of a new Vault. Taking place five years following the events of Borderlands (2009), the game is once again set on the planet of Pandora.
REDDIT BORDERLANDS GAME OF THE YEAR SOFTWARE
If I didn't mention a DLC, it's because it doesn't contain significant content, or is something like the character packs that add new playable characters but don't add areas or anything.Action role-playing, first-person shooterīorderlands 2 is a 2012 first-person shooter video game developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K Games. Seasonal Events/Takedowns - Not really my thing, but that's probably because I didn't enjoy B元's gameplay as much as BL2, and I was feeling kind of tapped out by the time I finished the main game and the DLC. Psycho Krieg and the Fantastic Fustercluck - It's got a lot of great content, and if you liked Krieg's character from Borderlands 2, chances are you'll like this as well. It's more serious than most Borderlands content, but I think that was a stark improvement since I'm not a fan of the series' sense of humor. They're honestly too different to compare directly, but I really enjoyed this DLC, and if that's something you liked about Dr Ned's Island, you'll probably like this too.īounty of Blood - Really solid 'Old West' style DLC. Guns, Love, and Tentacles - It has a lot of the same horror feel that the Dr Ned DLC captured all the way back in the first game. Moxxi's Heist of the Handsome Jackpot - Definitely nostalgia for Borderlands 2, and while it isn't as absolutely amazing as some of the other DLCs, it has a lot of the same energy as BL2.

Glitch weapons are super fun to use, and the whole thing was just really fun. The Pre-sequel definitely isn't bad at all, but the poor reception meant it only got one real DLC:Ĭlaptastic Voyage - It's really too bad that the Pre-Sequel only got one DLC, because this was a banger. I find it ironic due to the name that the Pre-Sequel was hit by the 'Prequel' effect, where it was judged too harshly by overanalyzing flaws and comparing it to a predecessor it couldn't stand up to. Definitely worth your time anyway, though. If you don't play it, you might find yourself confused by what's going on when the third game starts. Of these, Mercenary Day is the most well-recieved, but I haven't actually played any headhunters.Ĭommander Lilith & the Fight for Sanctuary - This has important story about the transition from Borderlands 2 to Borderlands 3.

Headhunter Packs - These are all short, so don't expect them to be the same size as main DLC content. If you don't absolutely love difficulty, I wouldn't reccomend. 100% play this, even if you don't play any other DLCĭigistruct Peak Challenge - Unlocks an additional, highly punishing difficulty. It's so good that the newest Gearbox game is just based on this DLC. Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep - I don't think I'll get much argument when I say that I believe this is the best DLC ever created for any game, ever. Sir Hammerlock’s Big Game Hunt - Generally considered the weakest BL2 DLC, I still enjoyed it, but if you're not really feeling Borderlands by the time you get to this, I definitely wouldn't recommend it.

I might be hyping it up in my memory due to bias, but it's still definitely solid. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage - I really liked this one. There's a glitch you might want to look up.Ĭlaptrap's New Robot Revolution - It's not terrible, but it's nowhere near the Knoxx in terms of fun and memorability.Ĭaptain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty - Solid DLC, with interesting characters story and unique items. I still have fond memories of this DLC, and its events are relevant in the other games. The Secret Armory of General Knoxx - Extremely good.

Ned - We're pretty sure this isn't actually cannon, but it's pretty fun, with a unique aesthetic. Everyone else has pretty much laid out everything that needs to be said about the main games, but I just want to go into some DLCs:
